We're building a site about Sribhumi
Sribhumi is the district in Assam's Barak Valley that was called Karimganj until 2024. The name comes from Tagore — he used it for this area a little over a century ago — and it means the land of Maa Lakshmi.
There's a lot worth writing down about this place, and no single place to find it. So we started one.
We're a few friends doing this in our spare time, not an institution. It's early. One section is properly built, and the rest is a list of intentions.
The one section that's built
VictorTango
Indian aviation — blogs, reviews, trip write-ups, and background on how the sector works. It's the only part of sribhumi.org that's finished and live, so it's the best place to start.

Why we're doing this
Search for Sribhumi and you mostly get news stories about the name change and government pages. The things we actually want to read about aren't there.
Which villages are named after what. What the rivers used to carry. Who kept the old schools running. What gets cooked at home and what gets cooked for a wedding. Which tea gardens are still working and which aren't. Most of it sits in family memory, out-of-print books, and scattered Facebook posts — or it isn't written down anywhere at all.
We're not historians. We're going to write things down carefully, check what we can, and say so when we're not sure.

None of this exists yet, and there's no timeline. Each part goes up when it's ready and when one of us has the time to write it.

If you're from Sribhumi, or your family is, and you know something worth recording — a story, an old photograph, a correction to something we've written — send it to us. This gets better with more people in it, and we'd rather be corrected than wrong.
